You don’t have to point ‘em downhill to feel the sensation of sliding on snow in Jackson. Nordic skiing in Jackson Hole is a great way to enjoy our town’s stunning panoramic views at a slower pace. Whether you’re looking to get a workout or have never tried cross-country skiing before, there’s something for everyone. Explore Grand Teton National Park on skis, slide past Old Faithful in Yellowstone Nattional Park via cross-country ski or snowshoe, or do laps on the bucking bronco designed track near Teton Village.
2.) Dog Sledding
For a once-in-a-lifetime experience, let a team of Iditarod-inspired dogs pull you on a fast-paced tour around the Teton or Shoshoni National Forrests near Jackson Hole. There are day trips and overnight adventures to choose from, and dog sledding is the perfect way to soak in the scenery.
3.) Snowmobile or Snow Coach Tour
The speed and exhilaration of snowmobiling through Yellowstone will have every adrenaline junkie freaking out and begging for more! And, a snow coach tour is the perfect way to explore in a warm, comfortable way. You’ll see steaming geysers, large game in their natural habitat, frozen waterfalls and lakes, and jagged peaks during a snowmobile or snow coach tour.
Do you remember holding tightly to your tube or sled as a kid as you raced down that local hill at high speeds? Unleash your inner child! There are tubing hills that boast rentals and rope toes for the pros looking for high-speed action and smaller, low-key hills made for a fun outing all over Jackson Hole.
5.) National Parks in Jackson Hole
Bison roaming the snow-filled plains, moose grazing in frozen meadows, geysers spouting without the summer-time crowds, and breathtakingly beautiful mountains are all easily accessible in the two national parks that surround Jackson Hole—Yellowstone National Park and Grand Teton National Forest. There are more than 200 miles of trails that wind through the national parks, begging to be explored during winter.
