Whether you’re on the search for freshly groomed corn on the Grand, slushy moguls under the Thunder Quad chair, buffed-out and wide-open runs in Rendezvous, or all of the above, the spring skiing in Jackson Hole is world-class.
The iconic late-night bar in Teton Village doubles as a prime people-watching venue on spring afternoons. Post up on the Moose’s deck with music piped through the big outdoor speaker system and watch Frisbee throwing, dogs playing, beer quaffing, and sunbathing at the base of JHMR.
3. An ice-cold, al fresco beer with a view
The Deck at the top of the Bridger Gondola boasts the best spot in Wyoming for a brew with a view. Overlooking all of Teton Village, the view from The Deck is as good as it gets on a warm spring afternoon. Order a local craft beer, soak it all in, and then click in for one last ski descent into the village.
4. Outdoor lunch at Casper
One goal of any spring ski trip to Jackson Hole has to be getting a goggle tan. Let’s be honest, raccoon eyes are the best ski vacation souvenir! And, eating lunch on Casper’s deck or at one of its many picnic tables underneath a midday spring sun is the best spot to accumulate those coveted tan lines. This on-mountain restaurant is a must-visit during the spring.
5. Lots of live music
Starting March 1st, there’s a new live music show every Saturday at 3 P.M. in Teton Village. These weekly outdoor acts are next to the Tram dock. Locals and visitors alike love to let their hair down and dance like no one is watching every Saturday!
6. Dick’s Ditch Classic
This ski and snowboard freeride festival and race is a Jackson Hole institution. You’ll see incredible skiing and riding on display; plus, a solid dose of crashes and carnage as skiers and riders race through natural terrain and man-made features in Amphitheater Bowl. “It’s a banked slalom, with a thigh-burning course like no other, big prize money for pros, bragging rights and belt buckles for amateur classes.” This year, skiers compete March 1–3 and snowboarders will get after it on March 8–10.
7. Rendezvous Festival
A FREE Michael Franti & Spearhead concert on Saturday headlines this three-day fete devoted to mountain lifestyle and music. Steelpulse plays in Teton Village for FREE on Friday, and the vibe in Jackson Hole is great! The Rendezvous Festival is March 27–30, 2014.
