It’s been an incredible three-day weekend in Teton Village, Wyoming. Hotel guests keep walking through the Lobby Lounge with ear-to-ear grins after days spent sliding around Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, exploring Grand Teton National Park, and enjoying a delicious dinner. The restaurants and bars in the village have been packed, and the energy in Jackson was palpable. On the coattails of this great holiday weekend we wanted to take a step back and remember why we’re able to enjoy this long weekend.
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s contributions to the civil rights movement are unparalleled. He became the youngest man to receive the the Nobel Peace Prize at age of 35. Prior to being bestowed the honor, MLK was a figurehead for nonviolent demonstration, bringing segregation laws crumbling down. Between 1957 and 1968, King notched more than six million miles of travel across the country, speaking more than 2,500 times wherever there was injustice, protest, and action.
After this fantastic weekend honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., it seemed appropriate to commemorate the man by highlighting five inspiring quotes from MLK that resonate with us at Hotel Terra:
#5: “If you can’t fly then run, if you can’t run then walk, if you can’t walk then crawl, but whatever you do you have to keep moving forward.”
#4: “The ultimate tragedy is not the oppression and cruelty by the bad people but the silence over that by the good people.”
#3: “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.”
#2: “We must live together as brothers or perish together as fools.”
#1: “I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character.”
